It's been awhile since we've ordered from Song La, one of my favourite food trucks. Since they moved away from UT campus to deep South Austin, it's a bit of a challenge to go now. Fortunately we were recently in the area, so of course had to order our go-tos - the Chicken Bites & the Braised Pork Belly Bento Box. Our boxes were hefty and packed to the brim with insanely tasty Asian comfort food. Prices were very reasonable AND we had enough left over for another meal. Song La has consistently dished out affordable, authentic Taiwanese fare for many years. They deserve every one of their five stars.

Food: 5/5 Song La serves up HUGE portions of incredibly fresh and delicious Taiwanese food for a very good price. The chicken bento box was super crispy and I am excited to try their other dishes next time. Service: 5/5 So friendly and welcoming from the start of ordering. They even threw in a couple of extra sauces for us to try in our bag free of charge. Environment: 5/5 Doesn't get much better than an outdoor food park in some sunny and breezy weather. Plenty of parking during lunch time, but it may fill up during evening hours.

Popcorn chicken was very delicious. Very crispy and flavorful. The basil on top and the steam rice makes such a great combination. Loved it...

DELICIOUS! I stopped by lunch / placed my order online and was ready when I got here and very hot and fresh. Got the chicken bites box - comes with rice, sauce and pickled radish which were surprisingly amazing too and paired great with the fried chicken! Overall super impressed - the chicken had incredible flavor and the portion size is great for around $10! Service was quick - placed my order online and was ready in less than 20 minutes! The food truck park is super cute and has plenty of other trucks too - even has restroom trailer - so nice!!

Everything from the food, service, and vibe of this little mom and pop food truck should be recognized as michelin bib gourmand. The portions are very large, the couple running the truck are tremendously friendly and generous, and the food is delicious and some of the best Taiwanese food you will find anywhere in the country--even rivaling some spots in Taiwan. My favorite things here are the braised pork rice and chicken bites. The braised pork rice is full of fatty (but not too fatty) pork belly, a braised egg, and wonderfully sweet Taiwanese cabbage. The broth that the pork is braised in is very fragrant and coats each grain of rice nicely. I would definitely recommend trying the braised pork rice with the included chili oil. The chicken bites are some of the best that I have had anywhere stateside or in Asia. The chicken is ultra juicy, tender, and crispy. The 5 spice seasoning is perfect and the addition of fried basil only helps bolster the traditional Taiwanese popcorn chicken flavors. I try my best to make it out to Song La every time I am in Austin to recount good college memories and to eat some of the best food around. Please give this place a try!

Highly recommend Song La's popcorn chicken! The food truck used to be located close to campus, but you can find it now in South Austin within Thicket Food Park. We came on a Saturday afternoon and live a bit farther, so the timing was tight and initially we thought we didn't make it. However, the owner was super kind and generous with making our order even though it was close to closing. After we finished our food, the owner came out with her family and we were just chatting a bit about her experience starting/running the food truck, which was wonderful to hear about. It was pretty quiet since most of the other shops had closed up for the day, but there were a lot of children's toys and interesting decorations to look at. The food park also has a good amount of space with picnic tables/seating. Chicken Bites ($14.99, 5/5) - Super crunchy, juicy, and delicious! The basil was nice and crisp and the sweet/tangy sauce paired great with the chicken. - Great portion size Overall this location is a bit farther but the owner is wonderful and the popcorn chicken is authentic and delicious! Totally worth checking out.

I love Song La so much. It's so nostalgic for me since my college days. Chef is always so sweet and hardworking. Portion sizes are enough to last me for a couple of days and even days later the food is still soooo good. I try to make a stop every time I visit Austin. A real gem.

Delicious, fresh, authentic Taiwanese flavors! Perfect food truck to kick off our Austin vacation. The chicken was tender, juicy & perfectly battered. I would highly recommend ordering online to skip the line! Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

I first encountered Song La when they were still in the back of the Co-Op near UT, and I was so sad when they were forced to move. It wasn't until I graduated college that I made the trip to their S 1st location. I love Song La so much. I used to go so often back in college that the owner of the truck started remembering my name. (I go less often now just cause it's a little bit of a drive). I always get the chicken bites bento box and it's such a filling and delicious meal - true Taiwanese comfort food. The longhorn sauce and Song La sauce are both super yummy and I always get both. Highly recommend!! Only thing is when they moved from behind the Co-Op the boba milk tea was taken off the menu. I'll always miss it

There are few places in Austin where you can get authentic Taiwanese food, and Song La is one of them! Taiwanese popcorn chicken is one of my favorite versions of fried chicken. They execute this dish so well. The box portion is generous. Their food is delicious, warm, and comforting. The owner was so nice! She even threw in an extra egg for me and apologized for the wait even though we weren't waiting that long for our food! I recommend arriving early because some of the menu items were sold out. Parking at the Thicket Food Park can also be a bit tight.
